The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe, Solid Waste Transfer Station is improving services at its location at 179 County Route 43, Fort Covington, NY.
Phase I is complete. Phase IA is in progress and will be completed late October 2024.
Phase I was the construction of a "Tipping House" where materials are directly emptied into a "transfer trailer".
Phase IA is the construction of a "saw-tooth" bin wall where materials are emptied into 4-yard containers.
Phase II is being engineered and will be constructed beginning 2025. Phase II is the design and construction of offices, staff facilities, upgrades to material handling such as cardboard, the introduction of food-waste management and re-routing of traffic flow.
The Solid Waste Program has provided open forum, a poll and surveys to get your input on services that you would like to see at the transfer station.

The selected contract will excavate, lay footers/foundations for building, install a Pre-Engineered metal building, install equipment, pave roadways, install security fencing, install a new scale and create a new approach to the drop-off areas.
